What cultivators fit a Farmall M

Postby dirt devil » Sun Sep 24, 2006 10:19 am

My dad picked up a Farmall M last weekend and after dad bought the tractor the guy mentioned that he had some cultivatrors so of course we had to ask where and went and looked at them. As far as I know they are original but do have a couple of the arms cut off (rear section) We ended up with both sides and cylinders and the rear section cultivators.

This tractor also has the M & W 9 speed tranny and the M & W hand clutch. Two nice bonuses. The PO also installed a Super M engine. Dad's intent is to try and go to some tractor pulls next year.

The only downside is that the right side has a bad bearing that we need to fix before we do much of anything.

My question is what models were made to fit the M and does anyone have pics. I would like to get my dad the manuals since his birthday is around the corner.

Nice!

Thanks Bigdog,

An after thought the PO said that it would fit the H and M, plus it is a two row.

We had a set of 2 row and 4 row for our M's and H's but I don't recall the model number of them.

I don't think I would be pulling with an M&W clutch. You can't find disks for them any more.

There were probably a half dozen or more cultivators made for the M. Show us some pictures and we might be able to identify it.

I don't have a picture of anythig that is an exact match. I'm leaning towards MH-238. There was also a similar HM-236.

Binder books has manuals for both. Or:

Just curious if there was some tell tail give away.

Thanks again Dave

Non-steering.
Separate front sections that bolt to sides of tractor.
Long lift rods controlled by cylinders.
No quick attach mounting frames.
Square (rectangular) tool bars.

Jim

My dad manage to find a HM-240 manual, what would the difference be between the HM-236 and HM-238?

Thanks Dave

Johnny,
Depends on just how the front is different. The shifting gang (steering) cultivator made the same tiome as the 238 was the 221.

Dave,
I don't have any pictures of a 236, but it is probably very similar to the 238 except for round tool bars.
