Main bearings.
I have just started to nose around looking to see what parts are available for my next project, the 51 Farmall MD. Aside from the head price being in the stratosphere, main bearings seem to be non-existent. Why doesn't one of the bearing manufacturers start making main bearings for the MD? Or is their a place to get them that I missed?

Re: Main bearings.
Try your local IH dealer. They can get a lot more of the old parts than one might think.

Re: Main bearings.
Couple of thoughts. Depending on your location.
Local automotive machine shop will be able to match up the bearings. Try your local tractor dealers, any make. They should have a stack of parts catalogs.
Plastigage the crank during tear down. Considering the size of the main's journals, you may find that the clearance is still with in tolerances.

I have an excuse. CRS.
