FARMALL M

Postby Phillip W. Lenke » Thu Oct 02, 2008 12:04 pm

I was helping my family with Hay , raking,( BN and 4 bar Rake,Playing really)
A fellow was marveling over the BN and Rake, how nice a job was done, asked me if I wanted to restore an M. I said "I don't know" , since I have the Demo about 2/3 completed, he said he would give it to us. I jumped at the opportunity.
The sheet metal is straight and all there, the engine will need complete redo. however the initial cost was there.
It is a 1940 IHC DistilllateImage
Happy!

Update for 1940 M
I have the transmission finished up, new seals ,gaskets, cleaned and primed (enough to keep the rust off, plan to prime as a whole unit)
Most of the heavy lifting is about done. Axles were the worst.

Recently purchased a belt pulley drive unit from folks close to Rick Prentice, He and George Hibbs stopped by our shop for a visit yesterday and dropped it off , picked up a few things for Dave Bennett .
And a Small tour , very small.
Great Visit guys!
before I bought it I asked what year tractor it came off they were not sure. I cleaned it a little
and to my suprise it was of a 40 as well , all the casting dates match up . Yeah! :D

Waiting for other parts to get back from sandblasters. should be able to finish up to the engine. Have to move it the garage soon ,have to remove a few tractors first.(I know many of you would help with that)
My friend bought a house with a building, we plan to move most of the garaged tractors their as soon a he takes possession. some time later this month. It is great to have friends.
He will have access to use of any or all tractors /implements as he needs, it will help him as well.
Will keep updates
Phil

Postby Phillip W. Lenke » Tue Jun 16, 2009 11:49 am

Latest pictures sorry for the darkness.
Currently I have the rear end up to the engine completed. I have everything cleaned and repaired.
I need to finish the engine( $700 ) stopper.
Thanks to Mike Duncan and the use of his sleeve puller the engine is ready.
Thanks Mike.
I am getting the finishing touches for the front end seals etc. for Fathers Day.
As soon as I raise the moneys for the engine it will be ready for the paint booth.
Here is this Am's pics

Re: FARMALL M / UPDATE

Postby Phillip W. Lenke » Tue Jul 28, 2009 9:08 am

Update
Have both rear and front wheels on , Powder coated rims, new skins , Did not have a belt pulley drive or Pulley, was seized up rebuilt made a new wear sleeve for the drive works great , several small items on painted behind before I attached them, hope to get the tractor down to my Neighbor's soon to paint as a unit, then it is stopped until our shop picks up $$, at 45% pay kind of puts a halt on things.Draw backs of Shop ownership. At least we are back to work , was off 6 weeks with out pay.
Will take to my Friends barn to store until I get the $ to get the engine finished up.
Will post after painting on frame is completely painted.
