Just got the tractor home from the neighbors, Started getting the engine ready to fire up, adjusted valves,etc
Will probally have t wait till Christmas to get it running ,I need new gauges and I know they are on Santa's( the Wifes and Kids) list.
Getting the lines on now , am getting oil pressure line on , the oil gallery fitting is missing , anybody have an Idea what it looks like, I am assuming it was a brass 90 degree. it was missing from the start.
Also need to get the NAPA number for the generator belt and the large style oil filter.

I will try to get some pictures loaded tomorrow of current status.

I have to set the govenor yet that may take some time, I am having issues with the control rod moving full range.
But will get it before it is through.
Having been in parts , some missing it is going slow with the finishing touches. I hope to get the radiator on before the weekend is out.

Wix 51125 for the oil filter, can't recall that NAPA crossover...Can't offer much help on the belt, mine has an alternator...
I've got the aux hydraulics on mine, but my bracket is not at all like that one. Buddy of mine gave 'em to me and said they came off a late model M, but the bolt holes on the bracket won't line up with the bolts in the deck...I dunno. If the oil fitting your talking about is the one below and left of the oil filter, yes it's a 90 ell, IPS x COMP but I can't recall the size, I believe 5/16...

You're inspiring me to get busy on mine in a few months...

I have a question about the price range for an M.
What would an original non restored 1953 or 1958 M go for that have worn tires, faded paint and some leaky gasket go for (MIDWEST)?

I saw a pair in a barn today, the 85 year old owner is kicking around the idea of selling them. He thought 1500 each roughly. One has a buzz saw attacked to the front
Do not know when they were ran last.

Todd, that price is probably not out of line for a good running M in the midwest. A '53 would be a Super M and a '58 would not be an M as the Supers ended in '54 with the Super MTA's. The 400's and 450's followed and by '58 I'm not sure. Perhaps 760's or such?

Hi Denny. Thanks for the info. They are both M's from the serial tag, so he may just have years wrong in his head.

He's my grandfathers brother who is in his late 80's and hasn't farmed himself for years. He the last brother/sibling alive from a family of 12 brothers and sisters. The farm has been in the family well over 100 years. I'd love to buy that farm to keep it in the family name, but I know the land will fetch close to a million when it's sold.
I took some pics of the M's that I will post. Unfortunately the serial numbers don't read well in the pics. I have no room in town for an M, but I'm thinking of options before it's to late to try for at least one of them

If they are running I would go with the $1000 -$1500 range. I have seen the m all over the map here. We bought an M at an Auction with tires so new they still had the raised size on the tread still there. we paid $1500 good runner. we sold it as I only bought it to repalced the tires on our restored M. Tires alone fetched between $800 -$1000.
Good luck on the M's I have not fired our's up yet , but really like the tractor .
