I am having trouble getting a 1155 wix filter with a gasket included c-248 late model filter hsg. (Large one)
I think it is completely ridiculous. :?
Anybody had the same problem or have an extra they may want to part with.

For what its worth I've bought three filters for mine in the last year, two from NAPA and one from CASE/IH, and none of 'em came with the housing gasket. Yeah I thought it ridiculous too...

I contacted wix and they said they do not sell them with the filter, I did ask them why , waiting a reply.

That gasket is usually reusable. If the area is clean and the gasket hasn't been damaged, it will rarely leak. In fact, more often than not, if one leaks it is because somebody stacked a second gasket.

Another step ;loser to starting for the first time.Yeah!
Got he oil line fitting yesterday from a tractor bone yard in Attica part $2.00 shipping $11, go figure
My son in law and daughter got me a gift certificate to TSC for my Birthday. I picked up the final 5 gal of 80-90 gear oil ,put it in last evening, they also got my gauges for Christmas , but have to wait till Christmas morning to use them. I told my wife I have to make sure they fit before Christmas ,she said yeah right, glad I did the temp gauge was missing the mounting kit and the indicator needle was on the wrong side of the stop pin. so we have to send it back.
Chalk one up for DAD. I really can wait till Christmas but you know the drill, did not want ot get to the day and have to wait again because of no fault on our part.
I have another wise bit of advise , I learned being a shop Foreman. "Trust them ,But check them"

Phil,

I asked Santa Clause for a set of gauges and a few other goodies as well. I've marked a set in the OEM catalog...I've heard they are the best, but really have no experience with them. I installed a set of Steiner gauges on the 430W JD that I done last winter, while they worked alright, I was a little disappointed in their appearance. They just weren't an exact match to the originals. Care to share what brand you used? Anybody else got any thoughts?

I kinda chuckled when I read about you purchasing the final five gallon of gear oil. I saved gear oil for eight or nine months before dumping and flushing mine. Put nine gallon in it, and I've added 3 more to that. Still got 3-4 more to go though. I know it's still low, but it's gotta be getter than that crap I drained out last winter...what a mess!

There was a set on EBAY from lugnutsenterprises $99 plus shipping , the OEM appeared to be the same so We saved around $50
The gauges looked nice
We got the IHC version for our 1940 M
But we will see if it was worth the savings

Getting ready to get the oil pump Primed. I plan to do it tonight.
I have the gauge on ,thought I could get it primed with the starter ,does not spin fast enough.
So I made a collar to fit the crank stub on the bolster,plan to use a heavy duty 3/4 in drill.
worked well for the cubs.
Is there place I need to put oil apart from the pan. I know on the cub the rear plug was a good place.
Any tips to get the pressure up ASAP will be appreciated

Phil,

Assuming you used assembly grease on everything as you put her back together you shouldn't have much to worry about. I oiled the rocker arm and such real heavy before hand with a oil can before I started mine. I just let the valve cover set there without bolting it down. That way I could peek in there and make certain everything was oiling properly and I had to have it off for the messy job of valve adjustment...

Took the 3/4 drive drill home from work and turned the engine over well. Good pressure. Had to use a mirror to see the gauge.
when my y eldest son got home I had him run the drill ,so I could see the pressure, I told him to hang on, It literly lifted him off the ground , he is 6 ft 4in 200 plus LBS. but he soon got a good handle on it, He was amazed at the torque of the drill and what it took to turn the engine, even with the plugs out /
The reason I was concerned was, the pump sat in a shed for who knows how long
I had to completely disassemble to get it freed , with new pressure spring, relief valve,the relief valve had to be drilled and taped so i could get a slide hammer on it to get it out.

11 days and counting until ignition , Christmas Day!
Put the last of the hoses on last evening, ready to go,need to put the temp gauge on ,water in,fuel and a good battery.
Glad I had to remove the hoses from the tractor to get the tower clamps on, I left paper in the thermostat housing when we painted it to keep paint from going in. could have been bad .
The Lord is watching out for me.

The plan is to give the M a starting chance on Sat AM, My brother is coming over for the initial run.
I need to get a good Battery, Any suggestions on the Cranking amps I would like to keep the original 6 Volt setup can I use a 8 volt , what type cranking amps etc should I look for , I know this sucker has some serious compression
