2 Farmall M's

Postby ToddW » Tue Dec 01, 2009 9:08 am

These are the 2 M's I was talking about on the other post of the beautifully restored Phillip Lenke M.

These 2 haven't been run in awhile, but I know they ran. one has a blade in the back and Aux hydraulics, the other has the buzz saw.

this serial tag is off the one with the saw

NIce tractors! I would get both ofthem. It also looks like the first one has an M&W hand clutch.

They look like a couple of honest old workers! Nice!

Definitely a couple of nice lookin' M's still in their work clothes. That M&W hand clutch on the first one really caught my eye, complete with monroe seat, headlights belt pulley, fenders and a pre cleaner... I'd be all over that one!

The first one was last run in the late 90's when he still snow plowed his own driveway. The one with the saw has been much longer than that since it's last run.

He used these 2 to farm the 60 acres of fields for over 30 years. Now he leases it out to be farmed. If I don't try to get at least one of them before they go on open market I will most likely regret it.

Where to store is the issue right now thats holding me back.

Can anybody describe the use of the M&W hand clutch? I'm ignorant. OK Got it. It's live PTO!!
Also, the belt pulley looks to be powering some kind of motor with hoses, any ideas?

Can't see it well enough to say for sure but it looks like some sort of compressor set-up being driven by the belt pulley. And yes you got the hand clutch figured out.
I have room in the barn if you need to store them!

Thanks for the offer Bigdog! Wonder how long it would take me in 5th gear the drive it to Stoutsville? It would be a fun ride in route down Lakeshore Drive in Chicago!

Well I guess since Ohio is closer to ya' than West Virginia there's not much point in my offering space is there?

I'd say that once that compressor and piping was off she'd clean up real nice. I think I see an alternator peeking out from under the front right corner of the hood, and a 12V coil. With a battery box (which may be in the barn somewhere) you'd be ready to roll. Looks like it also has the original muffler too. May not be stuck, mine sat longer than that and only had a couple rings stuck.

I'd have to find someplace to put it...or build somethin'

I'll check the camera tonight to see if I have any side view pics of the rims. I think they might be original on both, just not sure.
The serial tag pics turned out terrible, but I think they both started with "1" so that should put them in the late 40's if I am correct. I have to get back over to the barn.

Here's a pic of the rims on the buzz saw M. Looks like it has original rims. I know they are desirable and add $$ for the tractor. I do not have a pic that shows what kind of rims the other M has. Can't remember, have to get over there again.

I would get them both them worry about the storage. I really wish some one in my family had an old tractor that has been sitting around for years but I don't. :(

Get them both, buy one of those portable garages or a big tarp.....anything to get them to your place.
