Definitely not blacksmith use, hinge in the wrong place for any leverage.
I second ember tongs. Not exactly the same design at this site, but an explanation. Similar others when searched.

The only drawback is it would take both hands to use.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
