Beside the years they were built , 1971-1980 for the QA36A, and 1980 and later for the QA36B, the auger or rotor assembly for the "A" was a different P/N than the "B", although the "B" rotor assembly P/N was used as a replacement for the "A" P/N. There is also a difference in the lift bracket and top links of the lifting/mounting assembly. There is one P/N (for each item) for QA 36A S/N 11139 and below, and another set of numbers for QA 36A S/N 11140 and above and all QA 36B's, and there is also a clip that is used on the higher S/N's but not the early S/N's. It is basically the same snowthrower, but with some updates and/or improvements.

The difference between the QA36A and the QA36B is that the "A" version was used on Cub Cadets that had the 3/8" wide PTO belt. The "B" version was designed for the 82 Series which used a 5/8" wide PTO belt. Other than the drive belt pulley, they are the same snowthrower.
