Additional cooling for Hydro

Postby Tinker71 » Fri Apr 30, 2021 11:29 am

I am thinking about adding additional cooling for my 1450 hydro by means of a 12v duct fan off an old boat I have kicking around. Has anyone added cooling like this and is it overkill? I am thinking it will help at low engine rpm. Anybody have thoughts on this?

Overkill. The Sundstrand Hydro used on the IH Cub Cadets are very good units. The stock cooling fan along with correct fluid and filter is more than adequate.
The Kohler air cooled engine is designed to be run at full throttle when mowing or other hard labor.

We used one on the farm where I repaired equipment and the cc123 and cc147 (loader)never had a problem. I ran the loader pretty hard.

Why are you looking into more cooling? What issues are leading you this way?
