Hi guys,
I am not sure if this is where I am suposed to post but I have a new cub cadet mower and am having serious problems with the deck plugging on me I have tryed the Paint in the can at tractor supply I cant remember the name but its black or grey and is for plows and such .Did not work I have tryed an industral PAM spray for comercial mowers made it worse. I have heard its becuase of the new mulching blades but do not know if thats true. I have about two acres to mow and have to stop and completly clean the deck about three times during mowing this yard. When I get done I have a pile about two feet wide and about 10" high or higher there is alot of clippings. any one have any ideas?
THANKS JON

I think Paul is on the right track. I think the mulching blades are sold and aren't explained that they only make short clippings shorter and if the grass is to long the wind effect needed to mulch isn't there so long grass is trapped under the deck and can only clog up. If you want to let your grass long about the only thing that will pick it up is a behind bagging system with it's own blower.

Jon:
Sounds like you have tried the slip plate spray - you may also want to try a brush on version that is a little thicker. I had trouble with the mower deck on the small JD that our church uses this past year. Cleaning and painting it with slip plate and adjusting the gauge wheels to keep it out of the dirt seems to have helped. Of course fresh blades that are not missing a chunk due to hitting the filler on the fuel oil tank might have helped too
We still see some clumping if the guys try to mow when it is too wet....now if I could only get them to switch to a Cub Cadet....
Hope this helps,
Chad

You may want to check your belts, pulleys, and tension on the mule drive belt. It sounds to me like you are not getting the full RPM to the mower deck. Could the belt have come off of one of the pulleys, or be running around the shaft rather than the pulley. Is the PTO clutch fulley engaging? I have mowed a-lot of heavy, wet, tall grass with a 48" mower on a CC124, and have never had a problem with the deck plugging up or packing full of grass. Do you have the blades on in the correct direction? Yea, I know it sounds stupid, but you would not believe the people that take their mowers in to the shop complaining about a bad cut, only to find that the "new" blades are on upside down.
