Front wheel bearings

Postby BigBill » Mon Feb 26, 2007 7:20 am

I found out that its hard to find after market front wheel bearings. I guess were stuck with the orginals. I did find that 6003rs is the number on it but the after market 6003rs bearings don't have the flange. I tried to look for the 6003rs bearings with the snap ring too but i found nothing.

One more question are all the cub cadet front wheel bearings the same?

My wife finally drove the 70 cub cadet and she got on the 122 cadet and she likes the 122 because the 12hp is a little smoother. After she learns how to drive the cadets a little better she is moving up to the 154 too. I did purchase the 122 for her to mow the tight areas while the 154 cuts the larger areas of my our property.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Yes and no. The Original model used 7/8" ID bushings rather than bearings. All the CC's begining with the model 70/100 had 3/4" front spindles until S/N 632501, and they all used the same bearing. Those with S/N 632502 and later have 1" spindles, and they all use the same bearing.

Hey Big Bill...The smaller 7 h.p. Kohler powered Cub Cadets don't generally ride as smooth as the bigger 10 & 12 h.p. models. Sometimes it's a factor of cushioned engine mounts, or just rough running due to an engine tune up.

Like your wife...My 7 h.p. Kohler Cub Cadet Model 73 rides a little rougher than my 10 h.p. Kohler John Deere 112. Still they're BOTH GREAT little TRUE Lawn & Garden tractors with PLENTY of POWER for their size and horse power !

My wife is worried about cutting the grass now...she thinks i'm going to have her do it all since she can drive the tractors now. I would like her to know about everything, how it works and how to handle it just incase i pass on we never know and i would hate to see my toys (cubs) sit and rot.

The 12hp kolher does seem to run smoother with less vibration on my 122 over the 70.
