Cub Cadet Original - lights

Postby Cubsox » Wed Sep 19, 2007 3:14 pm

Any have or can direct me to a photo of the correct installation of lights on an Original? I finally found what I think are are the right pieces but are unsure exactly where to mount them. Thanks.

Check out this site for some good photos of originals:

http://www.ihregistry.com/cd1/originals/index.html

The headlight brackets mount to the side of the grill casting, just below the hood.

Geezer will be able to give you some more info if you need, as the photos are from a website that he manages.

I don't think that there was an EXACT location as these were a dealer installed option. Before installing mine I looked and many pics and I dought any two were in the same Exact spot. And some were painted white and some yellow.here are the pic of mine.If you put them somewhere in that general location and it looks good to you thats where they need to go

There is an exact location for the headlights as they have a drawing showing the complete light installation that came with the lights. I can E-mail anyone a readable copy if you need it. The only thing that isn't clear is where to put the Groat tail light if you have fenders. The most common place which most dealers used is on the rear most bolt on the left side fender/pan 1/4" bolt through the small hole in the bracket. This allows the Grote drain hole to be on the bottom which it isn't when mounted per instructions. I know one guy that turned his seat spring around so the liht would be correct. some prople just drill a hole in the pan to mount the bracket. There is also some discussion as to what color the lights should be as you can find the correct lights that were on combines and painted red. Farmall Cub lights aren't correct, I have 2 Originals and Ted has Yellow and Edith had white so the lights are determined by gender. Edith is royalty and now has Chrome lights(Trailer Queen)

You can see the light switch in the lower photo above. The switch is mounted on the left side of the dash pedestle, below the bottom of the dash.

in one of the Farmington Implement DVD's there is a the only video that IH ever produced on the Cub Cadet original and it is on how to sell the New for 62 CUB Cadet Original. It clearly shows the CC Original with Yellow painted Head lights .
