Rear Wheel and Mower Deck ???

I have a '66 102 Cub Cadet that I purchased last year. The 40" deck that came with it was beyond repair. I purchased a good, usuable 38" deck at the Cub-Arama last year and put it on the 102. It does a good job except, when I raise it, the tabs on the back of the deck that hold the guage wheels hit the rear wheels. My question is are the 23x8.50-12 tires on the back of the tractor too wide for the mower or is the 38" deck too narrow for the tractor :?:

Cub-Bud,
A 38" deck was generally run with the 6x12 tires.

When John Puckett came and got Missy, he and I discussed the width of the tires and 6-12s were mentioned. I think I will replace the ones on it now with the narrower size. Thanks :!: 8)

Hey Bud...The wheels on my 38" mower deck off my Model 73 are mounted INSIDE, rather than OUTSIDE of the rear tractor tires. I believe that you can mount yours INSIDE and out of the way of your rear tires when you raise your deck. IF ANYBODY'S INTERESTED...my 38" mower deck is FOR SALE along with the MULE DRIVE and easy lift frame.

As luck would have it, I returned to this year's Cub-arama with the 38" deck I bought last year and what was left of the 42" deck I got with the tractor. Sold both pieces and then bought a good, usuable 42" deck.....problem solved. :D
