Engine Swap

Postby JimT » Thu Jun 10, 2010 6:36 am

Asking another question for the experts.

Can a 14hp engine from a 149 cub cadet be put in a 109 cub cadet that has a 10hp engine? Is this just a matter of unbolting one and bolting it back in, or do any modifications need to be made? I didn't know if the engines were the same physical size on the outside or not.

Yes, just bolt it in, it is a direct swap.

Just for those who don't know or are thinking of swapping engines.

Guys is this a wide frame to a wide frame engine swap? Then its a go. We can get into problems when its a wide frame to a narrow frame swap. Then there is the starter/generator and the geared starter difference on the later cub cadets too. It can be confusing too so just ask here first.

I have a few of the AQS cub cadet engines with the geared flywheels/starters with the stator charging systems that i been thinking of putting one in a wide frame 108 that i have(extra one).
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
