Cub Cadet 1450

Bought a 1450 yesterday with the 14 hp engine and electric lift and 48 inch mowing deck. Runs very well and dont look too bad either can someone tell me what its worth please.

Calvin,
That's a pretty nice, original looking 1450. It actually has hydraulic lift, not electric. You could expect it to be worth anywhere from $500 to $1000, depending on how straight everything is, how well it runs, etc.

In this area the selling price for a running 1450 would range from $250 to $600 depending on condition. The engine in this series (800/1000/1200/1250/1450/1650) sits on rubber mounts and if they are worn out it usually damages the driveshaft and couplings because people tend to continue to use them rather than repair them, and they can get to be rather pricey to repair/replace. You may find some around here with a higher asking price, but they normally won't sell for the higher price.

Thanks fellows appreciate your answers so I guess I done pretty good I got it for a hundred and it runs great. And thank you sir for letting me know about the engine mounts I will check them out soon as I can right now were having a terrible heat wave here in WV and humidity is out the roof. I wasn't sure if the 1450 is close to being like my other Cadets I have a 86, 109, and a 129 now the 1450 and again thanks for everyone's help.

The 1450 is the same tractor (structurally speaking) as the 149, so you should be quite familiar with it once you start working on it. The only changes to the quietline series (1450) includes the new side shields, a bendix type starter rather than the starter generator, the AQS series Kohler engine which accomodates the new starter and more engine tinwork to "promote" cooling, and an electric PTO clutch. Later models included a self dumping hydraulic pump and upgraded 1" front spindles. The transmission, frame, fenders, etc., are all the same as your other tractors and most parts are interchangable.

I would say that you did really good, and the 1450 is a great machine that I'm sure you will find just as capable as your other Cadets.

One difference between the 149 and 1450 you will have to get use to is the speed control/direction lever. On the 149 it is on the left side of the steering wheel and operates like the turn signal lever on your car. On a 1450 it is a lever on the right side of the steering wheel or dash that is moved forward and backwards, or up and down, depending on how you look at it, but they can take some "getting use to", specially if you don't use the two tractors often.
