Son in law has a cub cadet snow blower Model QA 42A and he shucked out the gearbox. Anybody have a gearbox, or set of gears for one? If not maby a used blower?
He has this on a 782 Diesel, and it really blows snow nice. Thanks.

Roger:

You might want to email Jamie at JP Tractor Salvage. They have Cub Cadet's and are one of our Site Sponsor's.

If they do not have the part you need, then one of the best places to find that gearbox in on :eBay: Joe's Outdoor Power has been a good source for me and is very good ebayer. Bought a number of items from him and I have been pleased. Both of my Cessna Eaton valves on my hydrualic projects come from him as well as the 2 others I have in stock :D He isn't showing anything for the QA-42A currently in his Cub Cadet Listings but he bears watching.

Cub Cadet Specialties http://ccspecialties.org/implementparts_1.html is one of the only places that I know of that stocks those parts. They're real expensive though.

You might just want to start looking for complet snow blowers. Also, keep in mind that the right angle drive for the tiller is the same as the snow blower, so they are interchangable.

I found them on there lastnight. told SIL aobut it. He is also looking for a different snow blower. This one came off older cadet and he adapted it to his 782 , and it has seen a lot of hard use. he would like to find a heavier built one or two stage if he can.

I've not heard very good things about the 2-stage models that they offered for the Cadets. They tend to rust out really bad, and they are bad about the fans going out, with all the extra moving parts. A good QA-42A will easily clear as much snow as the 45" 2-stage that they offered. I would look around for one those. The QA-42A snow blowers were built heavier than the 45" two stage, and they have a LOT less moving parts, so they tend to be around a lot longer.

The Gear boxes look the same but the SB has a 2:1 ratio and the tiller uses 3:2 ratio. There is also a 1:! ratio gear box out there.

I screwed up last year. A guy had a 1980s Sears two stage snowblower that he had adapted to mount on a Cub. He had a short video on U-Tube showing it operate and it looked good but I still hesitated - someone else bought it. Knowing what I know now I kick myself even harder for letting it go. It wasn't as heavy as a QA42A but it could move wet snow a lot better.

You might want to check this out >> Snowblower. It might be an option if you cannot find a gear box.
