Great job Jim. You're having way too much fun for just one guy

Jim:
Outstanding
You are in a class of fabricators that many of us would love to be in. This is such a cool project. I sure hope there is a How I Did That in there some where as there certainly should be

on some great work. You certainly have been thinking this through. Nice to have that kind of ability.
As Rick said, you seem to be having way too much fun.

Thanks for the comments guys. I can say this is a challenging project. I put it up on jackstands and started it up yesterday to try out the hydro linkage and it seems to work pretty good. Now I have to get the steering working so I can take it for a test drive. I bought a ported hydro pump from a 149 that I am going to use to power the steering. I'm going to install it on the rear hydro tranny. It has been fun so far tinkering on this project.

you project looks outstanding so far, if you get the chance could you post a few more pics of your linkage tieing the 2 systems together.

Here are some photos of the linkage I cobbled together. It seems to work ok by the tests I have done. When I get the steering finished I am going to start it and give it a better test.

Looking great!! To me that linkage looks much better than cobbled to me. I personally think it is very well engineered and something that I would never think of.

If I say "JEALOUS" would it ring a bell?

I got the ported pump in today. I got the steering wheel installed. Now I need to have 4 hydraulic lines made up.

You build some cool stuff Jim. I just found this site and have been combing through the old posts. Brutus is way cool and Artie is shaping up nicely. I'm thinking of borrowing your chain drive idea from Brutus to replace the pinion drive gear set on my 125 hydro dragster project. Keep building and posting pics...good stuff.

Thanks for the comments. I like to be a little different. Work has been getting in the way lately and I have not had much time to continue working on Artie.

Here, here. Like Rick says, we like pictures. Sounds like an interesting project. Also welcome to the forum. You'll find plenty of good people here that can help you with things and just chit-chat about projects.

I changed the front coupler set up on Artie. I think this will work better than the other set up. Had to have a longer driveshaft made up also. The new set up is the bottom photo.
Old set up.

New set up.

The new set up has a pilot bushing in it to keep the driveshaft more centered than the old set up.

Artie is starting to come together bit-by-bit. I was able to take if for a lap around the house the other day. It seemed to work prettey good. The seat is just sitting on it right now. I think that is going to be the next thing to do is make the seat mount. Here are a couple of photos of what it is looking like so far.

Jim, Great progress, can't wait to see the finished product.
