Will a QA-42 snow thrower fit a Cub Cadet 70? I have been told they do, but then I read that they are for wide frame cadets, which the 70s are not. Your help will be appreciated. :D

Mine had capabilities for wide and narrow frame Cadets. I don't know about the 70, though. The 42" blower brought my 12hp to her knees...(and she's bored .20 over)
I now have a gravel drive, and a blade for the LoBoy, so I sold it...
Regards,

I have a QA 42 mounted to the front of my 107 - perfect fit. Works good but it is bit tricky with the heavy wet snow...you have to watch your speed and the snow feed closely. On dry snow it is super. Keep the belt really tight.

I have my QA-42 on my 125 and it works great. Here's a pic from last year when the motor was low on power before I rebuilt it this past spring.

You do have the run the engine at WOT to get the best results out of a single stage snow thrower.

My understanding is that the QA42 (or QA36) is designed for the narrow frame cubs except for the Original. A QA42-A is for both narrow and wide frames (the last "A" stands for "Adjustable").

The other difficulty I had installed on my 680, is that the exhaust, and all the heat from the engine blew directly on the chute, causing it to melt snow inside. I put a deflector on the front and removed the side covers to aid the discharge with some success.
This may also be the reason I ran out of HP..

I have both the wide frame and a few the narrow frame snow "throwers" sitting here. They don't look to be adjustable in any way. There single stage too. It can just throw the snow to the next path and so on. I wasn't impressed at all. But i'm used to the gravely tractor "L" 's with the two stage blowers which can blow snow/ 4" of wet slush over the tops of the telephone poles. Bill

caution; Make sure you cover your face, mouth and nose when using a snowblower or snowthrower. The fine mist of the cold snow flakes in the air can go into your lungs and cause a heart attack, if you breathe them in too quickly. So cover your face with a ski mask. We believe my uncle died from this.

I just inherited my Dad's 125 from around 1966 and was looking at the blower for it , it hasn't been on in at least 30 years, the angle crank the lift rod and the belt are missing, the u joint for the crank is there ,I am going to fab up a lift rod and crank handle, but I need the belt number, and also does anyone know what type of lube goes in the angle drive ? Thanks T.J.

T.J.:

Cub Cadet 125 Owner's Manual
Cub Cadet 125 Parts Catalog
QA-36/QA-42 Snow Thrower Manual
QA-36A/QA-42A Adjustable Snow Thrower Manual

I did up a lift rod and crank handle for my buddies 108 and QA-36A and we have it totally restored and mounted. He used it last year with great success. SAE80wt Gear Lube is what is called out in the manual.

Thanks for fixing it Rudi, I went to a show yesterday and a guy had a lot of cub stuff there and I picked up a lift arm for 15 bucks. My uncle may have had all the missing stuff at his place because he had the blower for a while when I was a kid His cub got scrapped long ago. I have used a single stage for years on my Bolens 1050 and they definitely like the dry snow. I found if a wet snow re-freezes its a lot easier to blow. I gotta figure out how to mount the soft cab too it hasnt been on the tractor since I was little. Does eny one know the belt size for the blower on a 125? Thanks T.J.

Every snowthrower i get just about is missing the lifting rod, not all but a few are. I grabbed the 1/2'' rod i have inhouse and the cutting torch and make them up right on the machine. Then my son drills the quick pin holes on the ends, Bill
