It is possible most of us, I know I was assuming that you were talking about the radiator support holes at the bolster on a regular Cub. There is enough meat there for BD's idea to work nicely. However .......... since you are talking about a Kohler carb this changes the whole scenario. There probably isn't much extra metal around where you need to repair so the helicoil may probably be the only viable fix there is. If so, then you need to get a proper STI tap, the correct sized drill bit and yes the inserts and insertion tool. So, again the best thing to do is either get one locally or order one off of
