Headed out Saturday morning to a tractor auction and to look at a Cub Cadet 782. Got to the auction and due to some scheduling misunderstandings, couldn't stay. So, headed on over to look at the 782. Day started off cloudy...

Got to the place and looked it over. Some of it was in fair to good shape, but decided to go ahead and bring it home...

Stopped for lunch and snapped this pic in the parking lot...

On the way back, south of Butler, MO, there's a tractor parts place that had this Cub sitting out for sale (didn't see a price, they were closed)...

The PO is a tractor puller enthusiast and bought it from a farmer (original owner) who, as he said, "liked to mower close to fences." :? The scratches would support that theory. The PO had it for 6 months intending to tear it apart and use the rear end, but had other tractors that came in after this one, so with time/effort being short, he didn't want to cannibalize a perfectly good running mower. He bought a new battery and new fuel pump for it and said the tires all held air for those 6 months. He even swapped out a ratty seat with a not-so-ratty seat for no extra charge.

It has a lot of hours, but good power (the Kohler 17 Series II engine). Grille and hood ornament is MIA and front tires need to be replaced. Deck has a few welds on it but operates fine. So, for the price, think it was a good deal (especially when compared to some other 782's I've been looking at). Think I'll (slooooowly) refurbish this Cub Cadet and hopefully by next mowing season, it'll look like new or at least better. Thanks for looking. :D

There are some hard to find parts on the 1934 - 1936 WC Allis Chalmers being used as an advertisement.
