She is the nicest one I've seen since I sat on them in the showroom in the 60's and 70's. He paid 1142.00 and 52.75 for the light and install in Oct of 1968. I'm going to wax it up today. I may have to let it go for that price however I just may use it.

Why was it never used and where was it stored? How did you find it?

It was stored in a two car detached garage/shop buried in the far corner. The adult son told me that his father bought it in 1968. The son saw dad use it once. By the receipts it was delivered in nov 1968 which is the end of the cutting season in central Virginia. The son advised that he knows that it wasn't used again because he had to push cut the lawn until 1974. Like I said in the first post, this is one of those strange stories that you hear about but never really believe. However, I believe the evidence is clear once you inspect the tractor. It still has the white overspray under the deck and on the blades. There is absolutely no wear on the tractor.

I could be totally wrong on this. It looks to me like the center blade is mounted BOTTOM SIDE UP. From the look of the blade, clearly it was used some. If inverted, it wouldn't mow worth a *^*%$. Nobody firgured out what the problem was. The mowing was unsatisfactory. It got parked.

I think Jim nailed it. Not only would the cutting edge be on the upper side but the blunt back end of the blade would be hitting the grass.

I got a great deal on a like new 20" Homelite chain saw one time because the owner said it wouldn't cut worth a darn. I took it home, put the chain on right and have been using it flawlessly for years.

You might be right. Between the size and the angle of the shot, I find it difficult to tell whether the smaller blade is upside down. Maybe it will be more clear in the higher res picture. It makes sense that all blades were mounted at the same time by the same person. So uniformly wrong wouldn't be a surprise. I have no doubt the middle blade is wrong.

Checked blade rotation on 102 CC. Clockwise when standing above the deck. Blades upside down.

Although it's not really NOS, it sure looks like it was very lightly ran and parked for the last 34 years. It has some nicks in the paint and light surface rust on the chrome parts but it's neat to see what parts were painted with the tractor and what is installed after because of the bolts. I was surprised to see the blades painted with the deck.
The tires are new and you can't find the same anymore. Same with the seat and blue trim. Awesome find!
