16hp 1650 carb leaking issue

Postby ToddW » Sun Sep 29, 2013 7:24 am

Kohler standard carb.

Pulled the carb, inspected and cleaned it. Also put in new Kohler fuel valve assembly and carb gaskets

The float has no leeks in the donut housing at all
Put the carb back together and it still leaks out of the choke with drip drip
Any ideas?

Thank-you

First thought, leak in the needle valve and seat area or float set to high.
I have an excuse. CRS.

It's now a brand new needle and valve seat-it leaks the same as the one I just replaced.

Maybe I will try lowering the float tang setting

Two thoughts. 1) Did you set the float level? 2) There may be a burr or dirt lodged in the needle/seat.

...and a question, is the float brass or foam? Foam floats may look perfect but can be fuel soaked an not shut off the fuel sufficiently.

Did not reset or move the float setting from when I bought the cub last year=started leaking a month ago

the float os the brass doughnut type (like on a fCub)

Could be the dreaded spec of dirt demon--i removed and cleaned everything with carb cleaner when I put new parts in -but that can mean nothing also
