CCC 582 wiring diagram

Postby Chevyguy » Sun Oct 06, 2013 5:39 pm

I have an older CCC 582 serial number ends 730513 and I can't find a wiring diagram for this tractor. I am having some issues with the front PTO switch and need a proper diagram to trouble shoot this problem. The only ones I can find on line are for SN 719,999 and lower. The CCC 582 has two relays (?) mounted on both sides of the dash tower and what I think may be a rollover switch mounted under the the fender pan on the front edge of the battery box that my IH built 582 does not have, so the wiring has to be different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This wiring diagram is for the 82 series (682, 782, etc) and is in the right serial number range. Perhaps it is useful for your CCC 582 (?). Hope so.

Second diagram down from the top. Found here: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21

Yes, I looked at that diagram before and wasn't sure if it would be the same. I also have a CCC 580 and the PTO switch on that tractor has a different connector than the PTO switch on the CCC 582. (fewer terminals) SO, I think to be absolutely sure about this I need to find a wiring diagram for this particular tractor.

All of the electric PTO switches were the same on the Cub Cadet tractors, regardless of the year and model, until you get into the late 1990s tractors. On some of them, there were two connectors on the PTO switch, a two spade and a three spade. On others there is a single connector, and on others there are two - three spade connectors. In any setup, only a couple of the terminals are actually used. Chances are that the switch is shot, as it is the weakest link in the system. I would start by getting a new switch and plugging it it. It is rare that the wiring fails or that the PTO itself goes bad, however, there are symptoms of a PTO going bad that can be diagnosed. Based on what little information you've given, I would just go with the new PTO switch.

There are actually no wiring diagrams for several of the model tractors. I just ran through this with an 1864, where I found wiring diagrams but they were wrong because someone had made them up and posted them online. Nothing takes the place of a good volt/ohm meter and some patients. However, if all the wiring is in tact, and every safety switch is plugged in, again, I'd be back to the PTO switch first.
