Need to identify two Cadets please

Postby lwhiway » Sun Oct 23, 2016 9:53 pm

I've got 3 Cadets, one is a 1250, the other two have no decals and no Serial number data plate to be found.

I'll post a few pics in hopes I can narrow down the models to be able to service and replace parts as necessary.
Thanks in advance.

It is an original, the only one with that style air cleaner or a belt drive.

Excellent. So, would that mean that any parts ordered for an "Original Cadet" would work for this tractor with consideration that it does have a data plate for the engine?

I can't speak to what changes may have happened during production on that model. Others may have more details. By the way, early ones had a serial number stamped on one side or the other of the transmission housing.

Depending on who you order from, it is commonly called an "Original" since it is the first model; most IH parts have it under Cub Cadet, Garden Tractor, CUB CADET (last option in drop down under model). The serial number is stamped on the right side of the gear reduction housing (between transmission and frame). The engine would either be the K161 7 hp it came with or the K181 8 hp that was the replacement offered. It is an earlier one since it has the collared spindles and it also has the optional 3 point hitch with the helper spring.

Good luck,
David
