whats burnin down south?

Postby brewzalot » Sun Feb 19, 2017 9:04 pm

Flying back to Wisconsin from Cancun Friday the view out the plane window was fabulous. Not sure exactly where we were, but some where close to the Mississippi River there were several large fields being burnt off. The plumes of smoke was neat to see from 30,000 feet up. I heard on the news Florida was having smog issues form burning off their sugar cane fields- is sugar cane grown that far west and that's what I was seeing?

US sugar cane is mainly grown in Florida, Louisiana, Texas and Hawaii
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Could have been pastures but I bet it was controlled burning of planted pines.

I'm quite sure we weren't over Florida, Texas, or Hawaii... more likely it was Louisiana or maybe Mississippi. I didn't realize that sugar cane was grown in states other than Hawaii and Florida.

The amount burning seemed too big to be a controlled burn, but maybe. I just find it enjoyable looking down at the ground from that far up, and this really caught the eye.

Thanks

If you are not part of the solution,
