Garlic is doing great. Asparagus is just now starting to emerge. Need to remove straw from strawberry beds.

Going to try blanching the asparagus, freeze, then vacuum sealing this season. Tried freezing, but the asparagus turned into mush. Have tried dehydrating, the asparagus turned into flakes.

Wife really likes asparagus. Been giving away excess because none of the previous preserving methods worked out. Would try pickling asparagus except the wife doesn't like pickled asparagus.

Some things grow great is this part of the Ozarks. Found that out when I had a bumper crop of okra and I was the only family member to eat it. Now I only grow vegetables the entire family will help eat.
I have an excuse. CRS.

You are bout 3 weeks ahead of us over here!---A hint to keeping veggies from going soft,---Skip the pre-cook stage! We here just wipe good, pack, then freeze, comes out just like it went in!---A lot of folks have this problem and it comes down to the pre-cook step being the problem! thanks; sonny

Looks like I'm in for a rainy period. Drought has disappeared. Gonna rake the straw of the strawberries tomorrow.

Ground temperature is suitable for planting a row of radish. I buy packets of different radish, mix the seeds together. I do this because the different types of radish mature at different rates.

I cut some of our garden today, notice the left rear tire with mud. Almost buried the tractor. Had to hit the differential lock and pick the cut away up in a hurry. The lower right side is severely wet.

I had every intention to plant some sweet corn by Mar. 21 or so. It's been so cool for the last few weeks I decided to hold off. I intend to plant some this week. I've had cabbage and broccoli set out for probably 2 weeks and I planted Irish potatoes today.....

18 yesterday morning. Had to throw blankets over plants to make smaller space to heat. I've never had to to that in the 20 or so years I've had a greenhouse. Average low is 33. Weeds beginning to grow in garden but was just a bit wet. Rototilled yesterday afternoon anyway. Onion plants should be here soon. We did get to 50 yesterday. Forecast cold for rest of week. Vern

Tried cutting our garden again today, lower side still too wet for big tractor. Got Arnold out with the yard tool and did the whole thing. It was a little sticky with him but managed to do okay.
