I have been wanting to do this for the past 10 yr. I finally got started yesterday.

First, 100 tons of AB mix is spead out and rolled down. I'm half done with the AB now. After the mix is cured, we will apply 1.5" of crushed brown granite 1/4" & smaller. that will be wetted down and rolled again. After everything dries again we will coat the entire drive with a special polymer that binds everything together and eliminates any dust.

Don, the polymer is a synthetic organic fluid that meets all environmental standards. It is sprayed on and does not ever totally cure. Its being used in large quantities in Iraq. It is available for a free 1 L. sample from Soil Works, LLC. Gilbert, AZ. Their web site is http://www.soilworks.com. Bottom line...I think its Elmer's Glue.

Made some progress today, but the water truck guy could not get his pump going. The AB needs to be soaked before its rolled.

Mike You say the AB mix has to cure, what is the AB mix? Is it just different grades of gravel (called stones in some parts of the country) or is there some other product mixed in with it? The picture makes it appear to be what is called "dense grade" around here - crushed limestone that ranges from dust to about 3/4" in size, that will roll down and pack very well to create a good road base.

I like the stone walls for curbs. They are well laid. Notice the grass that looked so suculent and green in earlier posts has browned off. Looking good.

The stone you describe is called berm here. There are two grades... coarse and fine. I think the name comes from its' use on the berm along the roads, but maybe it's the other way around.

Paul, I should have said dry...The AB mix sounds like "dense grade" except this mix has lime mixed with the crushed limestone. Its used on many of the roads out here. When its soaked, rolled and dries out, it sets up almost like concrete.

This may be a silly question, but once the whole thing is sealed up with the polymer, and because there's curbs on each side, where does the rain go??? It looks crowned in the middle?

Hey Bigdog...here you go Got a drilling contractor to bring me some water today. He showed up in this OLD International Harverster Loadstar. The bed on his truck holds 1500 gal....6 T.

My Dad spends the winter months in Yuma and he was telling me about this product a while back. I asked him to find out the price structure and he never got back to me. Is the product close in price to asphalt pavement? I have a long driveway ,I’m going to have to do something about someday.

Those rock walls along the road look good. You have put a lot of time and work in your place and it shows it! If you can please; keep posting pictures of what you’re doing. It really gives me some ideas; I would like to do someday…..
