Gall..? Advice please...

Postby Rudi » Thu Jun 22, 2006 7:58 pm

Em and I bought a pair of what were supposed to be Bartlett Pear trees from our local orchard about 6 or 7 years ago.

Turns out the next year or the year after, I cannot remember exactly which, but the trees fruited. Beautiful blue Damson plums on those Bartlett Pear trees... :!:  :?

About a year later we started seeing a kind of blight on the branches. It has slowly gotten worse over the last few years. A horticulturist in training who handles some of our lawn chores (edging and supplying mulch) indicated to us that he believe that this is Gall, a disease tha usually does not greatly hurt or kill a tree (and usually plum trees), but in this case the Gall is doing some pretty serious damage. He is unaware of any fix or cure or even something to halt of delay the continued damage.

Anyone got ideas :?: :?:

I will ask Em to maybe take some pics tomorrow or Saturday and post em..

Thanks..

John:

Thanks. Will head over to the horticulturist and see what I can get hold of and what the recommended strength is.. and of course if I can use it here...

And the spelling was right.. found it immediately on google
