i plowed a small section of my uncle's field to plant a deer food plot.
i disc'd it and seems ready to plant seed but i only have a broadcast spreader and it says to use a culti-packer. question is do you think i could just drag a piece of chainlink fencing of it to get it covered??

on the bag it says it needs to be covered by 1/4 inch of dirt

What seed are you broadcasting?

The piece of chainlength fence would work as well as a peg toothed harrow.

Another idea. Broadcast the seed just before the first snow. Then let the freeze/thaw cycle plant the seed.

the seed is for a fall planting its called biologic green patch plus

i was trying to use something i have laying around. that's why i thought to try the piece of fence and drag it over a few times. seems like it should work

The cultipacker will press the seed down so it si in firm contact with the soil ot aid in sprouting. The chain line fence would hlep mix it with soil, but still needs smething to press it down.

Use a plank as a drag behind the chainlink.
