Farmall Cub

Last week we were able to come up with two dozen ears of corn for the Cub Tug. Today we grabbed 17 dozen from four rows. With 25 rows to pick we oughta end up with over 100 dozen. That should hold me over till next spring.


The firemen looked hungry this evening so I went over and gave 'em a couple dozen to "snack" on.

Lookin good, but around here that would be almost enough to feed the coons or dear, but not both.

Joe. some of it is Peaches and Cream. It is ready in about 70 days and is yellow and white. Some what like a late model Cub The rest of it is Silver Queen.

John, The dogs do a good job of keeping everything out of the garden. Unless they decide to have a wrestlin' match in the middle of the garden. Then I can lose a lot of crops real quick.

We picked this a few minutes ago. That's 12 dozen ears of silver queen. The market down the road is getting $6.00 a dozen for it right now.

Mine is nearly gone. Next year a bigger garden and an early and a late crop!!

Bill that looks good! Ron, I plant 4 short rows at two week intervals until mid-July. I plant Illini Extra Sweet through June and then plant Golden Queen because it seems to be less affected by blight.

We planted two rows of peaches and cream. Only eight plants came up.
Betty moved the eight plants and I retilled the ground, planted Silver Queen guess what about ten plants of the silver queen came up.
Might need to move garden next year i guess.

i planted two rows of corn , and right after we got rediculously busy at work and i didn't go back to the garden for a month. i wound ip pulling th corn stalks up and feeding them to my goats, at least someone got to enjoy them.

Jimbo, Is your seed fresh? Corn seed over 2 years old, isn't a good germinator. Cold wet soil isn't good either, especially for Silver Queen. Ed

I planted corn this year for the first time but only a few plants. I got some ears to grow but they stayed like 2 inches long. I think I planted them too late.
Oh well, there's always next year!!!!

Amanda, we had the best crop of silver queen ever this year. We spent several nights putting it up to freeze. Wow, with all the corn and green beens we had out there we were going to eat good this winter. Then the storm came and knocked the electric out for 90% of the county for 3 or 4 days. Unfortunately, most of what you see as well as more ended up in the land fill last week.

We did have such a good crop that we shared with our neighbors. The firemen across the road had fresh corn on the cob many nights during July and August. So in reality all was not lost in a way.

my neighbors definitely enjoyed my garden too this year. My green beans grew on the fence and went threw the fence, so they would just pick them off the plants on their side of the fence
unfortunately i can't get my boyfriend to eat any of my tomatoes...

The Silver Queen is the only thing I did not have to re-plant this year. 99.9% germination. I ground some white Indian corn for a fellow at a show last week end and saved some for planting next year. Until now I had not heard of the stuff. Hope it is as good as he says.
