Yeah I know, it doesn't belong on the cub list, but I thought it was worth it anyway.

Don't know about the snow, but I'm tired of the ice. I fell while walking to my truck to go to work Friday morning. Left leg folded up behind me and my left foot was in the small of my back when I landed. Trip to the hospital and x-rays - nothing broken but tore a bunch of ligaments and soft tissue damage to my left knee. They have me in a leg brace and on crutches until I see an orthopedic specialist Tuesday. Will find out then what they need to do.

Ouch! that had ta hurt big time. Falling seems to come with the territory and it seems this year the territory is huge.

From way down south to all the way up here and gone north. Ice seems to be the biggest problem. If it wasn't for the ice, Ellie-Mae would be handling it all quite nicely even without chains.

I know this isn't gonna sound right - but I am looking forward to spring and all the ice being gone. I love snow but I really cannot tolerate ice!

BD. keep us posted and let us know what the Doc says. I have terrible knees - all bone on bone - and I have found the only thing that helps and allows me to walk with only a modicum of pain is Naprosyn - 500 mg twice a day!

Heavy duty, but it has been part of my regimen for almost 20 years now. At least I can walk -- left overs from my time in the Military.

Take it easy, relax and don't worry about anything till ya see the Doc.

John: tried to email ya again, bounced! I really enjoyed the show of hands. Thanks :D

BD, did the same thing several years ago, though didn't do as much damage as you did. I was also a lot younger then than I am now, and recovered quicker. Keep us posted. during the last severe ice storm we had I inspected the under-side of my truck 2 or 3 times

On the bright side, I guess our cubs are safe for the time being.

Ouch! B.D. man that hurts! Been there, done that, not fun.
Hope you have a complete and speedy recovery.
Yeah, we're sick of winter too. Gettin' cold again tonight.
However, we did tap the maples today and the sap was runnin' good. Hope to boil syrup on Friday. It is March and bound to come around pretty soon.
Get well soon B.D.

B.D. - Take care of it! It'll feel MUCH better when it quits hurtin' :(
Ron, we have more snow down here than you do up there; even more as we go toward Indy and the river.
My daughter up in Almost Wisconsin has no snow 'tall!
Let me know when the Maple syrup is done!

Hey BIGDOG...I hope you're feelin' better? Just remember that ligaments that are torn will sometimes require arthroscopic surgury to re-attach them. Hopefully, your's are not in that state of condition. At any rate, be sure to rest them, elevate, ice for swelling...Dr. "Country" also recommends a regular dose of Maker's Mark over ice to ease the pain!

Went back to work last Monday. First few steps after getting up from sitting with knee bent hurts like heck. After that it just hurts a little. I see the doc again in about 3 weeks. If it isn't healing as well as he thinks it should, he'll schedule an MRI and we'll go from there.

Good Luck BIGDOG...I hope the Doc can help your healing process. After I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee...I felt fine...before that a lot of pain from a torn miniscus. Keep us posted on your recovery son! I'm sure Janet is takin' good care of you when you're home after work!

BD:

Well ol feller, it is another sign of not being a young sprout anymore.

I had the miniscus removed completely from my left knee in 88 and they did the right knee in 89. Before that, I could barely walk it was so painful. The only way it was bearable was to be on Naprosyn.

Since the arthroscopic surgeries, there is more movement in the knees and rotation is better but not what it should be. I am still on a full gram of Naprosyn a day (500mg BID) to help reduce inflamation, but the most surprising thing is that you get used to the pain and your mind eventually ignores it.

There are many days though, that my mind forgets this little rule and it hurts like heck - usually on very cold or damp days. I think some arthritis is getting in there.

But, and this is the most important part -- I am still walking and I do not have to use the cane very often. This is good.

I am sure that you will be able to move around quite easily, and God willing your sore days will be few in number. Take care of yourself and when it hurts sit a spell. It will do wonders. The getting up from a sitting position where the knee appears frozen/stiff and hurting is normal. Some recover from that completely and some don't. All depends on how bad the knee is.

With luck, you will be among the lucky ones! God Bless, take care and I hope the Doc has good news for you!

Big Dog, sorry to here about your fall, I fell off an ladder (thought I only had one step to go actually two.) on 9/17/01 I tore the patella tedon off my Knee cap, my knee cap was about 3 inches higher up my leg than it should have been, after surgery & physical terrorapy, Yes terrorapy I was able to return to work 1/22/02 I've gotten to the point that Naprosen no longer ez the pain, I' ve been but on 50mg. of Vioxx which has really helped I am stiill doing physical terrorapy twice a week, If you can get in to any water therapy in a warm pool I think that will help the best It worked good for me. I still can't kneel down, or crawl on my knees, or climb ladders or do stairs very well yet, sorry about the long post. Get well soon, & Good Luck. Dave F.
