My SIL has given me a bunch of shirts he does not want anymore. They're real nice but they are starched so much it won't come out. I have washed them a few times with no luck. Still stiff.
Is there any way to get the starch out of these?
Thanks
Mike

Asked my wife the seamstress and she said to wash with white vinegar only not yellow vinegar. I guess white vinegar acts as a fabric softner and pulls the soap and creases out. Hope this helps

Experiance is knowing what NOT to do the next time....... 1937 John Deere A (Big John) 1953 Farmall Cub (LiL Red) Lots of projects.
I splurged and bought the 14 oz. bottle of white vinegar for .87, added the whole bottle to the hot water in the machine and ran the cycle. Then i ran another cycle with liquid Tide. Ithink 90% if the starch is gone now and the shirts are almost back to normal. I might spring for another bottle next time go to the store I will try the baking soda too Ellen.
Thanks everyone.
