Bears in Garden

I put up this chain link fence to keep the deer out, but it is not working for bears. They will occasionally come around if there is ANYTHING edible. The peaches and apples were ready to be picked, but mama bear and baby beat me to it. This is the first time they have torn down the fence. Hope its the last time.
Anyone have a "how to" on bear repelling ?

Boy, They sure beat up the trees. Would a couple of strands of electric fence on a solar charger help?

Bob, good idea. The current would need to be potent though.

A lot of bee keepers here are using electric fence to keep them away .

Mikey,
That's not a bear...it's a cat!!!
On a serious note, go with the electric fence as others have suggested.

Gee, I was unhappy about the squirrels getting into my garden. Maybe they are not so bad after all.

They were back again since I fixed the fence again. Just started to strip away the top rail on another span close to apple trees that are still untouched.
Spent a few hours removing all the fruit.
This year is a pretty poor crop anyway due to lack of our usual summer rain. Maybe next year, if we get more rain. there will be enough food for the bears in the higher elevations and they will stay up there...and I can have apples and peaches again

You can add a little power to the fence by wrapping a piece of fresh bacon around the electric wire and a few drops of honey. A tongue around that wire
gives a really good ground for the electric.

You were one of the stops on our list in a couple of years after Pris retires. Now I'll have to think about it. The walls in the camper are kinda thin. lol
