Any bird hunters out there? Im really interested in duck, dove, pheasant, quail, and not to mention....Turkey

I like to get after the Turkeys some in the spring. I haven't been out for a couple years due to a incident with a trespasser almost shooting me but I'll be back soon.
Never think your the only one hearing that turkey, even if your on posted land... If someone's on your posted land , their usually not law abiding citizens anyway and will shoot about anything that moves...

I laugh each time I see a hunting show where you see the hunter grab up the turkey, throw it over his back and walk out of the woods... That would spell certain death here in West Virginia.

I know what you mean. There's a feller that moved in to the land adjacent to ours, and here recently my bowstand was stolen. A set of foot prints that aren't mine are found on my land here occasionaly. Just remember your little bit of blaze orange...

Orange is only required here in deer gun season Seth and anytime else it's open to what ever. You can hunt turkeys with a 270 if you want to, the guy who came in on me was using a 243.
Usually when you run into a trespasser he's not going to be wearing blaze orange anyway... We run into a lot of guys just walking through making drives for others who are waiting on the fence line... Dirty ^%%$#$%#

Eastern. They used to roost all over my woods but I imagine with all the movement they went further up the crick.

Most states only require blaze orange to be worn during a modern firearm, muzzleloading or youth firearm season for bear, deer or other larger game. For bird hunters most of the time wear blaze orange on head and shoulders for use in taller vegetation and such. I turkey hunt a lot, I have a blaze orange panle on the back of my turkey vest that is removeable. I wear it to and from the woods for safety but its not the law. It also pays tyo know the hunting habits of your hunting partner, a wild swing at a bird can most likely cause another Chaney incident

nice birds podge. How do yall cook em?

We fillet the breast off the bone, cutting across the grain of the meat. I make 1 in by 1/2 in fillet roll in flour and pan fry, yummmm. When it comes to wild turkeys I prefer the hens over the tom and jakes, their meat seems a little too sringy but still pretty darn good.

did that one time but it tasted like dont know what i did wrong. aint shot one since.

I started squirell hunting with dad when i was a little feller i couldn't load the 22 until i was ready to shoot that was a long time ago i'm 66 now one of my most memorable hunts was a couple years back when i called a 22lb.gobbler with a 9 1/2 in.beard across a field about 300 yards wide it took about 45min. i had just bought a video camera and forget to take it with me i would have loved to had that on film.
