Planting Black Walnuts
Posted: Fri Mar 26, 2010 4:48 pm
Five furrows marked by steel posts in green area are planted with black walnuts. Furrow cut about 1 to 2 inches deep and a black walnut dropped in about every 18 inches. Furrow flap then rolled back in place.
Black walnuts planted along both sides of the tractor road. Two photos above are just over 1/2 of the black walnuts planted late last fall.
Photo above. Trees in foreground are black walnut. In the level area behind the trees in the forground is another 20 or 30 black walnut trees of various ages.
Posted in the farming section because timber, including black walnuts, both the nuts and the wood, are considered a crop.
Edit. One photo moved to later post.
