Does Massachusetts have "Nuisance Tags"? If so, you should be able to go there now.
Erik would be willing to take care of a couple himself!

You could call it a DeereFest

Peter, I think you need to be a commercial grower, to qualify for a Nuisance permit. Ed

Time to get out the family Joules. Three of them will make a lasting impression.

Yes Mass is not as easy to get a special permit to harvest nuisance deer, Not the time of the year to harvest , they are loaded with ticks and birthing season is close.

You should be able to find a bunch of remedies online to repel them, places like Lowes sell stuff you can spray that is supposed to keep them out. On the farm, scattering mothballs around the perimeter seemed to be about the best way. My experience has been that any repellant is short lived--they quickly get used to it.

The only good deer is a dead one. My dream is that one day one might drive from the beach all the way to at least Kentucky and not see so much as a hoof track. They serve no useful purpose other than to spread disease and destroy crops and property. Hope you can get them under control.

I am not going to bother with a garden until I can get poles up and string some wire. One of the commercial berry growers nearby has a 10 foot high fence around 15-20 acres.

I'm thinking fence, too. Twitchy trigger finger, doesn't work, unless the deer, and thje finger, are in close proximity, at the same time. The repellents sold in the box stores, are expensive, and effectiveness is questionable . Ed

Liquid Fence works very well. But, probably not very cost effective for a larger application.
