asparagus bed
The other day I mowed my asparagus bed down to the ground , the weeds over took the bed, today my wife went out to look at it, and there was new sprouts coming back up, needless tl say we had fresh aspargus with dinner. I might have to mow it over every late summer for a fresh crop

Re: asparagus bed
Remember however you are weakening the roots by doing so. You probably will not have a problem but you do increase the chances of winter kill. Vern

Re: asparagus bed
This was the first time i cut it down, i really dont plan on mowing it over all the time. I had way to many large weeds growing in the bed. The bed is probibly 30 years old, and the wife couldnt resist picking some for dinner

Re: asparagus bed
I am sure the temptation was too great! LOL! , and 1 picking wont hurt the bed as much as the tall weeds would, that was why I cut mine down too! thanks; sonny
