Does anyone make ethanol fuel from their crops or on their farm? I have been trying to produce some for my lawn tractor.

Make sure your lawn tracotr is intended to burn it. The diaphrams and gaskets on some of the carbs dodn't like alcohol. As a matter of fact mine specifically warns no to use it.

I ran 90% isopropyl rubbing alcohol through it. Ran perfectly. The tractor is from 85' and the carb is metal inside. Float boal carb. Just have to richen the carb a little bit.

I read on one of the alternative fuel sites that diesal has no future as a fuel and that it will all be biodiesal.

When you blow it up let us know!

1. standard oil will not work with alcohol.(alcohol removes oil)
2. piston is special top is thicker to take extra heat.
3. To much muffler will cause blow by the rings & will score the cylinder wall.

Find some the guys in your area playing with the go carts running on
alcohol & they will fix you up.

Alcohol burns cooler than gas and my lawn mower has a staight pipe. I will have to look into the oil problem, makes sense, but I have never read about somethin like that happening.

Forgot to put this link in. Mentions nothing about oil compatability.

n Was an article in the NY Times this week.. It stated that more energy goes into making Bio diesel than you get out of it. Basically they say the only way to gain with Bio diesel is to reuse cooking oil.. It was from a study by Cornell for NY State.
