Home made garden weed wiper

Postby Eugene » Sun May 08, 2016 2:45 pm

Cheap grocery store sponge about 3" x 6". Poked 4 holes in sponge. Folded the sponge over the end of a 2 gallon garden sprayer nozzle. Used some solid core electrical wire to bind the sponge to the sprayer nozzle.

Herbicide, 1 gallon of water, pumped up the pressure sprayer. Couple of squeezes on the handle to soak the sponge. Occasional squeeze of the pump handle to keep the sponge soaked. Wiped down weeds in asparagus patch, in the sidewalk, and some broad leaf weeds in the lawn. Only used about 1/4 gallon of the water herbicide mix.

In about 10 - 12 days will see how well this wiper works. Have weeds under the blackberry trellis, around black walnut seedlings, and next to the strawberry patch to wipe, if this works.
I have an excuse. CRS.

That does sound like an excellent idea. Keeps it where you want it an little if any run off.

Weed wiper works well. Getting 100% kill on wiped weeds.

Works great on killing individual weeds in the garden plot. Much better than hoeing out the weeds and leaving the root system.

Can you post a picture of what you've got? I'm having a hard time getting a visual on it.

At about 57 seconds in the video is an example of how I made my weed wiper. Actually this is where I got the idea.
