E-brake 185

Postby als » Thu Feb 14, 2019 6:49 am

My 185 came to me with a broker e-brake lever. Just the handle is gone. Would like to remake from heavier material. How long is the handle piece, and which way does the bend face?

My brake lever was broken when I got my 154. Once I figured out I still had the pawl I bolted on a lever to the pawl. I did not make a bend in my lever so less chance of catching it with my foot. I also changed the angle a bit,

How long did you make it? That’s much what I was planning if I can’t get someone to give the actual lengths.
I know h/bobs has it but just can’t pay 18 + 6 bucks shipping for such a easy thing. $1 a thousand times is a thousand $. Some sweat equity is good for the pocket book.
Thanks Duner.

Als, mine is not so long as to protrude above the horizontal drive shaft cover. I don't want to catch it with my foot when getting on/off. New handle is real close to vertical tin by brake, so you engage with finger tips sliding along the vertical tin to catch the lever. I can measure mine for you but it will be a couple of days.
Wagonmaster, pretty sure the single brake pedal uses a different lever scheme.

I got it made. I made mine to only come just to top of the cover tin. Did put a handle 1-1/2 long on it. Looks good functions the same. In the process I found more wrong :? The bore on the left brake peddle s bad worn. Another project for another time. Allready had made the brake shaft and bushing to take out all the slop on the clutch side. Had no idea that the pinned on left peddle could wear to that point. Wish I was there when it got put togeather.
It’s starting to look like a tractor again! Not a pile of rusted sheet metal and nuts/bolts.
On to trying to remember where all the wires go.lol.
