Stiff brake petal

Postby 1025rtlb » Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:55 pm

:help: I recently purchased a 72 lowboy 154. While working on her I discovered the brake petal is very stiff and will not return. I disassembled all the linkage and sure enough the stiffness is in the rod that connects to the clutch petal. After a clown show trying to remove the shaft and I cannot get them to separate. Any idea's from the pros here?
An help is welcomed cause I have hit a brick wall with this.

There are two different brake systems, single pedal and two pedal.

Brake return springs? Grease zerks greased?
I have an excuse. CRS.

Hi folks, I've searched for a parts break down on where the clutch and brake are attached to the frame so I can Invision how to disassemble the brake pedal assembly. Anyone have this illustration in a manual? If so I would greatly appreciate any help!

Take a look at the parts manual. Click on Quick Links, PDF Manuals, [Cub-154 Lo-Boy], TC-131 Parts Catalog Rev 8 1-72
Section H (Controls) page 4 shows the single brake system.
It is just two tubes slid inside each other. Might need to pull a couple of pins through the holes shown.
Certainly start with a good penetrating oil. Remove the brake pedal and clean out the rust.
