Clutch/ brake linkage

Postby 1025rtlb » Thu Aug 15, 2019 6:07 am

Ok boys here is my situation, I bought 72 154 and she has issues. After disassembly of near everything I am trying to get the rear back in and am reassembling the brake and clutch rods and it seems the rods collide with one another. Anyone have any photos of the correct configuration? I am using the parts manual as a guide but things just don't seem right. Any guidance from the experts on here? I tried to unsuccessfully load some pics of how I have it configured but don't have a clue how to do it.
Thank you in advance.

To be honest, I'll be asking You in the future. The linkages in the tunnel are shaped a certain way but I'll shut up now. The heavy hitters will rescue.

Service manual, GSS-1408, has two multipage fold outs with diagrams of how the tractor goes together.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I've been trying to get ahold of the service manual to no avail...
If any one has one for sale I would be glad to purchase it...
I know it's the ticket!

I have a 185 and I believe these are identical. I just can’t understand how your clutch rod interferes with the brake rods at all? They’re hardly in the same spot. Can you send some pictures to help me help you?

Uggg, I would be glad to if I could get a photo to attach...
I ordered a service manual so hopefully that will help me move forward.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide

No it's not that. I'm using my phone n it says it has an error. File to large.... It's just not brake linkage that I'm having trouble with lol

Heh! That’s my tractor. :)

He’s referring to the clutch AND brake linkages on a single brake tractor having issues. I’m waiting on his pictures now and maybe I’ll be able to upload them for him if we can’t figure it out...

I briefly spoke to him on the phone. He has a 154 with single pedal brakes so it’s different than mine. Can someone else see the problem here?

The parts manual shows the rod being routed to the top (above) the rockshaft. Pull the cotter pin and rotate the front lever (part #7 on the parts diagram) so it is above the brake and clutch rockshaft.

I don't have an early 154, but according to the parts manual, I also don't think you have the right connecting rod on the front. I don't see an adjuster in the parts manual on the front.
Serial # 21491 and below: The correct rod is 404 553 R1
Serial # 21492 and above: The correct rod is 543 941 R1

Return spring is also missing. (and washers and cotter pins too)

He doesn’t have a service or parts manual. He won’t know what you’re referring to with part numbers. I’m at work and can’t refer him to mine at the moment...

I have a parts manual. I believe I am working with all the parts required, just don't know if they are the correct parts... I bought the tractor as is and it may not have been correct for years. I'm suspecting that is the case due to the wear on the parts I have. I ordered a service manual so hopefully that will she'd some light on things. I would love to put eyes on another machine so satisfy my curiosity.
