Int154 flywheel pin (replacement)

Postby BigBill » Wed Sep 11, 2019 5:11 am

I mentioned this before about replacing the flywheel pin with a solid bolt of some sort that can be torqued up so that annoying rattle can’t happen. I ordered a new flywheel so I can get a head start working on this. I swiped my flywheel I had bought for my fel project to install in my third 154 when I put the clutch in.

Thinking a head I’m thinking about a key way in the creeper input shaft on my fel project besides the correct fitting bolt. Nothing too big but enough to hold the flywheel from shearing the bolt. Even a 5/16” bolt has a lot of strength in shear. Over doing it maybe but I don’t do things twice. What do you think?
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

The 184 uses a keyway on the driveshaft. It's a woodruff (half-moon shape) I haven't had it shear, but I don't do a lot of pulling with my tractor either. Most strenuous pulling it does is haul a bucket load of dirt on the 3-point, and push a bit of snow. Mowing and rototilling is kinda just driving.

I’m thinking with the creeper, and better stronger clutch it would hold up.
