Tractor won't move

Postby Dennis Orcutt » Tue Apr 21, 2020 3:12 am

I have a 184 that I reconditioned .I drained all the fluid out of differential ,refilled it ,new filter, new oil. I started the motor ,checked the hydraulics,3 point hitch works fine, mower deck works fine. I adjusted the clutch to .018 ,seems to be working fine. I might add that it has a creeper in it which seems to be engaging .the gear shift goes into all gears, the shaft from the clutch to transmission turns when clutch is engaged .I can't figure it out ,can anybody HELP me?

The creeper might be "between gears". Perhaps the shifter came unhooked inside?
Hopefully the 3 planetary gears (#14) are not stripped.

Now that you have a couple of posts, you should be able to access the manuals. (Quick Links in top left corner, PDF Manuals)
For a 184, the manual is shared with the 154. Look under the 154 for the parts and service manual. The 154, 185, and 184 are represented in the manual. Be sure you are on the right page for your tractor.

You were right on spot with your diagnosis.the shift pin was bent to the extreme that it wouldn't allow it to fully engaged In gear I installed a new roll pin and closed up the selector which was quite sloppy, reinstalled it and it works like a new one. It was a real pain taking it back apart and putting it back together again but it was worth it I'll send a pic of her 8f I can figure out how she's not 100 percent original but she's quite fictional runs and mows great!!! Thanks a million for your input.
