So gave this a go at a half load today because my normal tractor just got the brush hog put on it. Now I would assume I wouldn’t want to make this a regular thing, especially at a full load. But out of curiosity, what can the transmission handle on these ole gals?

I pull a 2000 lb trailer around the yard all the time in second gear. Enough to lift the front end off the ground if I forget to add a few weights. No prob. Mine is a 184, but i assume its the same tranny

Should not have any problems with transmission. I pull a trailer made from 1950s IH truck . I worry more about traction and clutch. My trailer balance point is way different than yours.

No worries about the transmission. These transmissions are used for garden tractor pulling tractors and definitely stand up to a lot of tough jobs. If your clutch is in good shape, the front tires will be in the air or the engine will stall before the transmission goes.
- Most likely, you will lose traction first. The 154 won't have any trouble with that load.

My little cadet 70 with the new replacement 8 hp Kohler pulls over 1/4 cord of firewood. With ease. My 154 with the sub soiler will loosen up big rocks in the ground.

If I was going to abuse the cubs tranny I’d add moly to the tranny and finals.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.
