Lo boy 154

I have found in a barn about a mile down the road from me a Lo Boy cub 154 with 60" belly mower.
It's in good shape not beat up or anything, all intact and was told it runs good with no problems.
What would something like this be worth, he wants $3000.00 for it. I like it, but is it worth it?
I know cadet's, not cubs. It looks like around a 70ish tractor in good shape.
He also has a Ford 9n he wants $2000.00 for but I already have a 9n. Don't really like it as well as my Case VAC.
This Lo boy kinda looks like a big 106 cadet.
Thanks

It would have to be in excellant shape for that price.
check out the drive cluch
check out the PTO clutch
Check the frame over the rear axels as that is a weak piont of the frame .

blue book value of that tractor is $600, meaning if i was trade to item, i would only get 600 off the trade. 3000 is probably twice what it is worth, unless it is in MINT condition, and ready for the parade and show circut.
Ive had two good 154 runners, and one that even looked real good, sold one 900, the other 1800. and was happy at that on both of em. But i wont be anymore, personal preference.

it seems like when someone finds out you like cubs, they double the price they want for theirs.

I think maybe I will go back over there and look at both tractors again. If I could get both for 3000.00 I could probley sell that ford and get most of my money back, don't ya think.

Mike,
Around here I've seen them go for $1300-$1500, which I think is a typical "good" price. I think there is a big difference between the 154, 185, and the 184. Ralph probably knows more about it, but the 184 has a separate starter and gen and a better mower clutch. For that price I would hold out for a 184, if that is the syle you want. My 2 cents.

I would take one at that price as long as it was decent no junk.
You are only about 10 minutes from me so if you happen across one that you thinks is right for the money let me know.
Did you go to Woody's marina auction earler this year? They sold two i think 184's and they went for around 2500 each

Mike,
I went to that auction. There were 2 154's and that's where I got the $1300-1500 price from. Maybe I'm just getting too old to run with the dogs anymore. Did you go to that auction? I was hanging around the tractors checking them out and I may have talked with you. I was the old gray bearded geezer who didn't know what day it was or anything else for that matter. First I bought a Cub Loboy with a cracked block, and now this. From now on I'm going to register as a guest and lurk incognito.

Mike, I bet we did talk. All kidding aside, I thought the 154's went for about $1400 each. I had just purchsed my 184 and was disappointed that they didn't bring more money. I was talking to the guy that bought the White, a real nice guy. I think he was having second thoughts on buying it. I don't think he looked it over very well. Sometimes people get caught up in the moment and over-extend their purse strings a little. Didn't it go for about $1000? If I remember right, which I probably don't, it was missing something, like a seat or a steering wheel? I'll look out for a auction with the numbered Cubs and give you a heads up.

Yea it went for about a 1000 around there somewhere.
It was a pretty nice unit with the 3 point and all, I can't remember what it was missing....Maybe it was the seat.
Thanks in advance for the heads up.
