Rebuilding a 154 Lo-Boy

Maybe this is premature, but I need to start getting my sources together. I have a 154 that is going to require a rebuild. The Cub itself is fairly clean. Not an oil leaker and fairly well cared for. Used to mow a church lawn. Of course there are plenty of sources for engine kits and other goodies. Who would you gents recommend for a complete engine kit(pistons, bearings, gasket set) and possible clutch? I want quality parts at a fair price. Probably more things will be needed as I tear it down for inspection this weekend.

Any tips are always appreciated, while I'm no beginner, this will be my first rebuild on a C60 engine. I'll probably order up the service info naturally. Thanks gents.

Tm is a good sourse for engine parts. I believe C&G have clutch parts. They are not the same as a cub. T/o bearing is pricey, $100 +. Valu Bilt has Clutch but not t/o bearing. Ed

Since this Cub has been fairly well cared for you may need only to rering, lap the valves, new rod and main inserts as well as gaskets.

An engine kit like sleeved engines is not available for the Cub. Disassemble and measure the engine. Make a list of the parts and measurements/sizes needed.

Once you have the parts list together. Check prices from a number of sources. I get parts for the C60 engine from a local autoparts store. One thing you will probably find is that there is considerable difference in the prices merchants want for their parts. Example: I bought the gasket set from one merchant and the rings and bearings from another.

Good deal. Never knew NAPA would carry the gasket set or rings. I take it they have listings for this tractor? I'll get a look at the bores this weekend along with everything else.

NAPA has the listings for the Cub but you need to call it the C-60. I paiad 99 dollars for rings and 59 dollars for rod bearings not sure about the gaskets but they are available as a kit or indidually
