Correct fitting battery to use in an IH 154 Cub Lo-Boy??

Postby John in Ct » Tue Mar 25, 2008 7:10 pm

I need a new battery for my IH 154 Cub Lo-boy but am having no luck finding one that fits properly :( . I have been using an Interstate SP-22NF. It fits in the tray ok with the cover on. The problem is that I had to notch :( the water covers ( 3 cells together like on a car) to get the terminals on. I need about 5/8" between the terminal and water cover. I would like to get a battery that either has 6 individual water covers like the origional or one with smaller 3 cell covers so notching wouldn't be necessary. I have 2 year old IH battery cables. Thanks!!

John,
I have the NAPA 22 NF and don't have any problems eith the battery cables. I have no clue what the SP (special?) 22 NF is for. I also found a 22 NF at Tractor supply (TSC) and it is in another of my 184's with no problems

Whats the CCA's of the 22NF battery? I have a battery in my int154 cub now that 425 CCA but i could use a larger battery (more CCA). Or should i say i'd like a bigger more powerful battery that will fit in the orginal battery box.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

I couldn't find one that fit either. I ended up just getting one at walmart that was deep enough to poke out of the box, then shimmed the other dimensions up with some foam and wood I had laying around. It has worked fine for a year.
