Blades for 60 inch IH deck?
I have the IH deck on my 77 Cub 184. The last set of blades i bought from Case were a bit pricey. The original blades are about done in. I have some time to shop a bit now and would like to find a good source that doesn't cost a fortune. Do any of you have this type of deck and where do you get your blades? Thanks

Measure up your old blades - better yet - take the old blades with you to your local, friendly autoparts store. You will need to know 7 different measurements to match up the blades. Ask for their Prime Line catalog or if NAPA their Outdoor products catalog.
The catalog has an 8 page section titled "Blades By Length".
This may or may not work for your 184 - worth a shot. If you can match up the blades, could or should be a considerable savings over the IH dealership.
If you have a good relationship with someone who works at another tractor brand dealership - they also have catalogs for matching up other manufacturer's parts.

I have an excuse. CRS.

I don't know if they would work or not. The IH deck takes a 20 5/8 inch long. I forget the thickness and the width but, they have a 3/4 inch hole in the center- they are for the 3160 deck. I was able to order the right ones online (at least I hope they are) He he. Thanks

No, these have two 1/2 bolts to hold them on.
Best,
Mike

Re: Blades for 60 inch IH deck?
Well lil red, that got me to looking at the manuals. The deck I have is definitely not a woods deck that i would normally see on these tractors but, it doesn't quite look like the 3160 either. It is 60 inch and has the long rollers at each front corner rather than the skid plates. The blades I have have a 3/4 inch hole in the center. I have bought the 3160A blades before that are 20 5/8 inches long with the 3/4 inch hole in the center and they fit good. I alway thought it would have been a good idea to have an extra hole or tab lock of some kind for securing the drive of the blade but, these do not.

3160A takes a different blade than the 3160. 3160A has the 3/4 center hole, 3160 has 2 - 1/2 inch holes. 3260 also has the large center hole but I'm not sure about the length.

I don't know what deck you have, but I have purchased Oregon brand blades (made in USA) that seem to work very well and last a long time. www.agrisupply.com carrys them for about $10.00 each. Shipping was just a few dollars.
Their website has a part # cross reference to help figure out which blade to buy.

Re: Blades for 60 inch IH deck?
The previous owner of my IH deck had replaced the blades with Cub Cadet blades. I did the same earlier this spring. I can get you the numbers next time I'm home if you want. I think they ran $23 per blade or something like that.

Re: Blades for 60 inch IH deck?
Anyone notice that these blades are no longer available from Oregon?
This is an old thread from 2008, but the cheapest blades I can find are $16 each plus shipping.
