clutch release bearing assembly: one ass'y or three pieces

Postby motox500 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 7:56 pm

this may be a dumb question but is that assembly all together to operate meaning that all three pieces are one assembly or do all three pieces just stack loosely on the shaft, i have all three pieces loose right now and am wondering do i assemble it which i cannot see because to do that it would not spin on that ring with the ball bearings which is sandwiched in between the housing where the zerk fitting goes and the other metal ring at the other end of it :?: , first low boy i have ever had just trying to get it right without tearing it up, thanks for any info

Hi Bill,

It must be clutch time for 154's, my Throwout Bearing is laying on the garage floor right now. Mine is one assembly.
Just to make sure we are talking about the same part, it is like the one this site is selling? And no, I'm not trying to push
any site, just happened to find this one first.

The T/O brg is a 1 piece unit from IH. The bearing is fitted to the cast carrier. The grease zerk is offered as a seperate repair part. I know that we stock both bearings here at C&G 404671R1 (154-185 Lo-Boy) and the 117244C1 (184) as they do wear out.

If you need to replace the T/O brg, look over the PPA closely too. If the fingers are burnt it needs to be replaced too.
